Mountain View High School’s Latino Club hosted ‘Connecting Community Con Comida,’ where teachers and staff enjoyed a homemade lunch featuring dishes from Latin American countries like Mexico, El Salvador, Colombia, and Guatemala— all prepared by club members! Mesa Public Schools is proud to partner once again with the Mesa Police Department on the Sports, Programs & Activities Reuniting Community (SPARC) initiative. 👮This fall, Falcon Hill and Salk elementary schools were the lucky schools chosen to host SPARC basketball on their campuses and meet next month at Red Mountain High School in a big, final game. Mesa Public Schools is proud to utilize the Paws & Peers school therapy dog program. Participating MPS staff and their dogs, also known as paw partners, pass obedience and therapy classes and are tested and approved using a nationally recognized therapy team evaluation. Paws & Peers seeks to meet the social and emotional needs of Mesa Public Schools students and staff. These dogs serve as trusted companions in classrooms, and counseling, nurse, or administrative offices for crisis intervention, behavioral de-escalation, or simply to address stress, anxiety and/or isolation.

Mesa High School held its annual Traditions assemblies for its student body this morning. Students heard from members of student council and saw all of the opportunities for extracurricular activities that Mesa High has to offer. Students also watched videos on the nearly 126-year history of Mesa High School and the origin of the slogan, “Carry on.”
Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Fiesta Sports Foundation, Fremont Junior High school is now equipped with another life-saving AED! But that’s not all—the majority of Fremont’s amazing teachers and staff have also received American Red Cross certification training in first aid, CPR, and AED use through the Foundation’s AED Assistance Program.

Freshmen broke out into small groups and were guided around campus by their Link Crew leaders. They were also led through activities encouraging them to break out of their shell.
FearTheHowl was in full force as Skyline High School hosted its annual Coyote Night this week. Students of all grade levels walked through campus to meet with teachers, counselors, and admin before school starts this Thursday. They also received information on athletics and clubs from their coaches and advisors.

🎒August 1 is almost here, and there is so much to do! To help you check off items on your to-do list, Mesa Public Schools is partnering with Community Bridges and 20+ local organizations to bring free backpacks, school supplies, laptops, haircuts, health screenings, and many more community resources to our families on Saturday, July 27.
🚌 The Back to School event will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Eagles Community Center (828 E Broadway Rd, Mesa 85204). Please visit compudopt.org/mesa to learn if you qualify for a free laptop to be picked up at the event. Backpacks and school supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
