Happy National Dog Day to our beloved pups at Paws & Peers!🐶💙 Mesa Public Schools is proud to utilize the Paws & Peers school therapy dog program. Participating MPS staff and their dogs, also known as paw partners, pass obedience and therapy classes and are tested and approved using a nationally recognized therapy team evaluation. Paws & Peers seeks to meet the social and emotional needs of Mesa Public Schools students and staff. These dogs serve as trusted companions in classrooms, and counseling, nurse, or administrative offices for crisis intervention, behavioral de-escalation, or simply to address stress, anxiety and/or isolation.

Students heard from members of student council and saw all of the opportunities for extracurricular activities that Mesa High has to offer. Students also watched videos on the nearly 126-year history of Mesa High School and the origin of the slogan, “Carry on.”

But that’s not all—the majority of Fremont’s amazing teachers and staff have also received American Red Cross certification training in first aid, CPR, and AED use through the Foundation’s AED Assistance Program. This week, Red Mountain High School welcomed the Class of 2028 to campus with help from their Link Crew. ✨ Freshmen broke out into small groups and were guided around campus by their Link Crew leaders. They were also led through activities encouraging them to break out of their shell.

🎒August 1 is almost here, and there is so much to do! To help you check off items on your to-do list, Mesa Public Schools is partnering with Community Bridges and 20+ local organizations to bring free backpacks, school supplies, laptops, haircuts, health screenings, and many more community resources to our families on Saturday, July 27. 🚌 The Back to School event will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Eagles Community Center (828 E Broadway Rd, Mesa 85204). Please visit compudopt.org/mesa to learn if you qualify for a free laptop to be picked up at the event. Backpacks and school supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
