This month, we honor the work and memory of Veora Johnson, the first black educational administrator in Arizona. 📚🍎 Johnson was a teacher at Washington Elementary for 17 years before being named the school's principal in 1945. Thirty years later, she would retire as Principal at Irving Elementary, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and leadership that paved the way for progress and equality in our state.

Shoutout to our amazing transportation department for their early morning support at the Mesa Marathon this past weekend! 🚌🏃‍♂️ By 2 a.m. and in the middle of a heavy rain, 150 supervisors, mechanics, drivers, and dispatchers, had 129 buses on their way to various locations, but not without a generous serving of breakfast burritos, cooked by a dispatcher. What a way to exemplify teamwork! The Mesa Public Schools transportation department is the epitome of efficiency and dedication. ✨
